Facebook Rolls Out New Like Feature, "Reactions"

Earlier this month, Facebook released a new feature called Reactions - an upgrade to the previous Like button which includes five new expressive emotions. Reactions allows Facebook users to use emoji-like, animated faces that depict a greater range of emotional reaction than simply "liking" something. Reactions includes a total of six options to express how you feel about a post without having to write a comment.

ImageTo get to these new emoji’s, simply hover your mouse over the Like button on a Facebook status update or post. If you are on a mobile device, press and hold on the Like button for a brief second. This will prompt the Reactions icons to appear above the button. As you select your Reaction, the icons will enlarge as you hover over them.

The new Facebook Reactions

The Angry face Reaction is the closest Facebook has come to adding a dislike button. For quite some time, Facebook users have requested a dislike button. Facebook has seemed to come through with an option similar to that, along with adding other ways to share your expressions.

If you just want to like a post as normal, simply tap the Like button as you normally would. You can also tap the Like icon when viewing the Reactions to like a post.

If you want to see the rest of the dog that is partially visible in the screenshots above, the photo is from a post on the CityMac Facebook page.
