Great Apps for Achieving your New Year’s Resolution

2016 is here and it’s never too late to start living better. From becoming more active to cleaning out your inbox, here are a few great apps for iOS to help you achieve your new year’s resolution.

Sleep Better

A good night’s sleep is the best way to kickstart a productive day and achieve your goals. For exceptional sleep tracking, check out Sleep Cycle.

Sleep Cycle can determine whether you’re in a light or deep sleep (or awake) and uses an intelligent alarm to make sure you are awoken in the lightest possible sleep phase. Check out our full review here.

Form Good Habits

How many days does it take to form a habit? 21? 30? 60? Whatever the answer may be, Habit List is the best app to track them with. The idea behind habit list is to establish “streaks” with each one. At the end of the day, open the app and check off all of the custom “habits” you achieved. Red badges means you broke your streak, green means it is still going. Streaks help you create good habits and bust bad ones.

Cross things off the List

Wunderlist is an incredibly powerful replacement for the built-in Reminders app, allowing the creation of multiple lists, syncing cross-platform, setting due dates for reminders, sharing to-dos with friends and family, and much more.

Stay Fit

If your goal is to lose weight, gain muscle, or just feel healthier in the new year, there are many different types of fitness apps to help you along the way. In the app store, tap Categories in the top-left corner and then tap Health & Fitness. Here you’ll find many options from tracking runs to counting calories to learning new exercises.

If you’re looking to get yourself a little something extra for the new year, try Apple Watch. The built-in activity app tracks your movement throughout the day. There are three categories, represented by rings that fill up as you move throughout the day: Move, Exercise and Stand. Move tracks general calories burned, exercise tracks anytime you do more than a brisk walk, and stand reminds you to stand for at least one minute of every hour to avoid long periods of sitting. Your daily goals adapt based on your previous performance, motivating you to continually improve.

Remember those Pesky Passwords

Have too many passwords to remember? Or do you use the same one on every site? Start off your new year strong by ensuring your information is safe and you always have access. We recommend using a password manager like 1Password to keep track of them all and to stay more secure online. Check out our full blog on how to manage your passwords like a pro here.

Cleanout your Inbox

Another great way to start off the year is to clean out your inbox. Unroll.me is an incredible little app that scans your email inbox for unnecessary subscriptions and lets you cancel them in one click. It can even roundup all the remaining newsletters/offers you still want to receive into one weekly email to declutter your inbox and reduce the daily volume of emails.
