Introducing Apple's New Magic Accessories

Along with a refreshed line of iMacs, Apple announced updated versions of their Wireless Keyboard, Magic Mouse and Magic Trackpad on October 13th. A big, overarching update to these accessories include easier connectivity and rechargeable batteries.

Magic Keyboard

Apple's New Magic Keyboard

The new Magic Keyboard has been completely redesigned with a slimmer profile. Keys have an updated scissor mechanism which provides 33% more key stability than before. This creates a smoother, crisper typing experience all around.

Magic Mouse 2

Apple Magic Mouse 2

Magic Mouse 2 has a new internal structure that allows for a lighter build. The improved foot design means it glides better across the desk without resistance. It’s smarter too - it knows when your hand is resting on it and can easily tell the difference between a scroll and swipe.

Magic Trackpad 2

Perhaps the biggest change has come to the Magic Trackpad. The new model has a 29% larger surface area. It also includes the same Force Touch technology one might find on the new MacBook and MacBook Pro with Retina Display. The surface is now an off-white instead of silver, matching the keys of the Magic Keyboard and glass surface of Magic Mouse 2.

Built-In, Rechargeable Lithium-Ion Batteries

All three of the new Apple Accessories include a built-in rechargable battery, rather than requiring AA’s.

It takes just 2 hours to recharge the battery on each device and a full charge lasts for about a month. A two-minute quick charge will provide an additional 9 hours of battery life. A built-in Lightning port makes it easy to recharge using a standard Lightning to USB cable.

Easy Connectivity

Apple’s accessories were notoriously hard to pair unless you already had another keyboard or mouse to help get started with the setup. Now, Magic Keyboard, Magic Mouse 2 and Magic Trackpad 2 will automatically pair when connected to a Mac via Lightning cable.

Once paired, low-power Bluetooth technology ensures a strong connection that won’t drain your computer’s battery.

Magic Keyboard and Magic Mouse 2 will ship with the new refreshed iMacs and are available today along with Magic Trackpad 2.
