Apple Announces New 4K 21.5-inch iMac

Apple Announces New 4K 21.5” iMacEarlier this morning, Apple announced a complete refresh of their iMac line, including an all-new 21.5” iMac with 4K Retina Display, while simultaneously discontinuing the non-retina 27” iMac and dropping the price of the 27" Retina 5K model.

All About the 4K iMac (21.5”)

The new 4K iMac houses a brilliant Retina display with 4096 x 2304 resolution, over 4x more pixels than the previous 21.5" iMac, which had a 1920 x 1080 resolution. It features the same incredible thin and gorgeous design as the previous model. Here are the internal specs:

The new 4K iMac Specs

Just as before, you can order a custom-built model to your liking. Just add $200 for a 3.3GHz Quad-Core Intel i7 Processor or 16GB of onboard memory. Choose between a 1TB or 2TB Fusion Drive (Add $100 / $200 respectively) or 256 - 512GB Flash Storage (Add $200 / $500 respectively). The new 4K iMac starts off at $1,499.

With iPhone 6s, you can now shoot 4K video and view it in full resolution with the new 21.5” Retina 4K iMac. With a processor powerful enough to edit multiple streams of 4K, iMac makes it easy to produce the best possible results.

The non-Retina version of Apple’s 21.5” iMac has updated specs and is still priced at $1,099 and $1,299.

Updated Retina 5K iMac Pricing (27”)

The 27" iMac lineup

Apple has discontinued the regular 27” iMac and is now only offering the 5K Retina model. The prices have changed too, with the entry level model now starting at $1,799 rather than $1,999.

3TB Fusion Drive Option

For the first time, the Retina 5K iMac (27”) can now be configured with a 3TB Fusion Drive. Fusion drives give users the “best of both worlds” (high capacity traditional storage mixed with quick solid state hard drive speeds).
