They come in a variety of storage options, and some people use more storage than others. It is all about what you are storing on your phone. In this blog, we will be going over the different storage options offered in each iPhone model.

How Much Storage Do I Use Now?

First, check to see how much storage you are currently using. To do this, open Settings on your iPhone. Then tap on General. Once in General, select Storage & iCloud Storage. Here you will be able to see how much of your storage you have currently used and have left. To see a more detailed view, just tap on Manage Storage.

How Much Storage Do I Need?

If you checked to see how much storage you currently have, and are within a couple GB’s you may want to think about getting the next size up. Especially if you plan to keep your next iPhone for the next couple of years.

16 GB

The 16 GB model is only currently available in the iPhone SE. This storage capacity is good for basic users. You can fit your apps, photos and videos, and email on it, but it does fill up fast.

32 GB

The iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 7, and iPhone 7 Plus feature a 32 GB model which is great. Twice the amount of storage than a 16 GB. If you currently have a 16 GB, we usually would recommend upgrading to the 32GB.

64 GB

The 64 GB option is available on the iPhone SE. It’s a great, it allows growing room for users and the ability to store thousands of photos and 4k video.

128 GB

If you’re looking at the iPhone 6s or iPhone 7, this model might be the best option for most people. The majority of people don’t use this much storage on their phones; although, some do. This storage amount is the same as the current base model 13-inch MacBook Air or 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display.

256 GB

The 256 GB option on the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus is a new storage option and it is huge. This is the same storage option as the base model 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display. With this option, you can be worry free filling your phone with 4k video, high resolution photos, all your favorite apps, and more.

Keep in mind that you can’t add physical storage to the phone later. It is recommended to purchase enough storage to be able to grow and use the phone without running out of storage.

What Are My Options?

Storage options for the iPhone 7 start at 32 GB, but also come in 128 GB and 256 GB. The 256 GB is a new option with the launch of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. For the iPhone 6s, it now only comes in two sizes: 32 GB and 128 GB. The iPhone SE’s sizes remain at 16 GB and 64 GB.CityMac Location
