How to Customize Folder and Application Icons in OS X

Did you know that there is the ability to change an icon for an application or folder on Mac OS X? In this blog post, we will be going over the instructions on how to change the icons in OS X. This can be a useful feature if you want to add a logo for a folder to stand out from the rest of them.

How to Customize Mac Icons

Step 1: Find the new image or icon you would like to use for an application or folder.

Step 2: Copy the image.

Step 3: Find the application or folder you would like to change the icon of. Once you find it, either right-click and press Get Info or click on it and press Command-I. This will bring up information on the application or folder.

Step 4: Click on the current icon in the top left-hand corner of the information window, then paste the icon by either going to Edit then Paste in the menu bar, or pressing Command-V.
