Apple Special Event Roundup: New Software Updates

At their Special Event on March 21, Apple released new software updates for OS X, iOS, watchOS and tvOS. After quite some time of being in Beta stages, the new Apple operating system versions are ready to be released to the public. Here is a look at some of the major updates in Apple's various OS's.

OS X 10.11.4

OS X 10.11.4 new update

With each release of OS X, it is almost certain bugs will get fixed along with security updates. With this update to OS X 10.11 El Capitan, Apple is bringing Live Photos to Messages, the ability to lock the Notes app with a password, import Evernote files into the Notes app and other big fixes throughout OS X.

To update your Mac, simply just go to the App Store and click on the Updates tab.

iOS 9.3

iOS 9.3 new update

iOS 9.3 is a huge update to Apple's famous mobile operating system of the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. iOS 9.3 includes new features such as Night Shift Mode, updated Notes app, updated CarPlay, and more.

To update your iOS device, open the Settings app, select General, and then Software Update.

watchOS 2.2

WatchOS 2.2 new update

The new update to watchOS includes multi-Apple Watch support, new language support, and Maps improvements.

To update your Apple Watch, open up the Watch app on your iPhone, select General, then Software Update.

tvOS 9.2

The new update to tvOS includes many new features such as improved Siri search features, Bluetooth keyboard support, app folders, and dictation. This makes searching for content and entering your usernames and passwords much easier on Apple TV 4.

To update your Apple TV 4th generation, open the Settings app, select System, then select Update Software.

Other Apple Software updates

Other software updates that Apple released at their Special March Event include iTunes 12.3.3, OS X Server 5.1, Apple Configurator 2.2, and Xcode 7.3. All of the software updates listed here are free for all users to download.
